Optimize for web re-saves your PDF with a compact structure (object streams), removes the hidden metadata, and drops unused objects — a cleaner, usually smaller file that opens faster and emails better. It is lossless: your pages are untouched. It does not re-compress images (use Compress PDF for that) and does not claim full "fast web view" linearization, which is a separate server-side step.

Frequently asked questions
Will it shrink a scan a lot?
Not on its own — scans are large because of images. For big size cuts, use Compress PDF, which re-compresses the images.
Is anything lost?
No page content is lost — only hidden metadata and unused objects are removed. The result is lossless.
